7 Types of People a Narcissist Hates The Most

Updated on:

Narcissists often harbor a deep-seated hatred for people in general, primarily because they hate themselves. This self-loathing gets projected onto others. However, there are certain types of people they despise the most, feeling repelled by them as if they were like the same poles of a magnet. Who are these people, and why do they inspire such strong hatred? Let’s find out in today’s episode. I’m Danish, a psychologist and narcissistic abuse recovery professional. Welcome to my channel!

Number one: They hate authentic people.

Narcissists despise authenticity because authentic individuals can see through their facade and fakeness. These genuine people don’t fall for love bombing; in fact, the inauthenticity is nauseating to them. Authentic people have done the inner work to heal their traumas, ensuring their inner selves match their outward expression. They have integrity and aren’t afraid to express their opinions, regardless of a narcissist’s feelings. For a narcissist, whose life is a web of lies and delusions, encountering someone authentic shatters their carefully constructed illusion. They cannot tolerate your authenticity because it exposes their own lies.

Number two: They hate brave people.

Narcissists hate resilience because it reminds them of their own cowardice. They try everything to bring you down, often recruiting flying monkeys and enablers to keep you entangled in their chaos. When you stand strong or openly express your emotions, it highlights their failures. Owning up to mistakes takes courage, something narcissists cannot do. If they can’t take your bravery away, they will try to destroy it.

Number three: They hate big-minded, visionary, and independent people.

Narcissists despise those who actively pursue their dreams and make a real impact in the world. Unlike the narcissist, who lives in delusions of grandeur, visionaries create tangible change. This success serves as a painful reminder of their own shortcomings. When you turn your plans into reality, they feel threatened and may try to undermine you.

Number four: They hate truth-tellers.

Narcissists cannot stand people who call out their dysfunction and refuse to enable their false selves. Truth-tellers see reality for what it is and challenge the status quo. In a narcissistic family, they are often marked as the black sheep and subjected to gaslighting and abuse. By refusing to play along, they become targets for punishment and abandonment, all while struggling to maintain their sanity.

Number five: They hate happy people.

Narcissists cannot tolerate those who experience genuine joy and live life authentically. Seeing someone thrive, especially at their expense, triggers their sadistic tendencies. They feel good when they witness your suffering and will go out of their way to undermine your happiness. Being carefree around a narcissist is nearly impossible, as they will find ways to keep you anxious and unhappy.

Number six: They hate vulnerable people.

Narcissists are repelled by vulnerability and emotions. When someone expresses their feelings, it disgusts them and reminds them of their own weaknesses. They may label your vulnerability as drama or exaggeration, shaming you for being sensitive. This leads to a disconnection from your own emotions, often resulting in what I call “identity paralysis,” where you begin to doubt your feelings and instincts.

Number seven: They hate creative people.

Lastly, narcissists resent creativity because they can only imitate and steal rather than create. Creativity represents a deep connection with the self, allowing for original expression. This unpredictability is a narcissist’s kryptonite; it makes them anxious and panicked. In an attempt to gain control, they may try to manipulate you into sharing your creative ideas so they can claim them as their own.
