Most victims of narcissistic abuse tend to be sensitive individuals or empaths, genuinely concerned with fairness and understanding. When faced with the chaotic nature of word salad, we may become obsessed with deciphering what was said, which only serves to fuel the narcissist’s need for validation and control.
To the narcissist, the conversation is just a game. The more you obsess over their words, the more supply they gain. They know how to provoke you into seeking clarity, which only feeds their manipulation.
How to Avoid Getting Sucked In
The first step in avoiding the traps set by narcissists is to recognize their tactics. When trying to convey something important, state your point clearly and only once. You don’t need to elaborate or persuade them. They understand perfectly well, even if they try to lead you in circles.
