Let’s explore their behaviors at weddings.
Behavior 1: Stealing the Show
Narcissists have a main character syndrome. They need all the attention, even if it’s negative.
For instance, imagine a narcissistic mother-in-law who’s jealous of her son’s bride. On the wedding day, she might intentionally wear the exact same dress as the bride—an unforgivable violation of etiquette.
If the bride dares to speak up, the narcissist might cry and play the victim, saying things like:
- “I just wanted to be part of this day!”
- “I feel like an outsider.”
The son, often an enabler, might dismiss the bride’s concerns, making her feel isolated. Even if he defends her, the narcissistic mother will escalate the drama, ensuring the day is overshadowed by her antics.
