Narcissists think that empaths owe them these nine things. Someone with high empathy can feel what is inside and outside their body. They deeply sense the emotions of others, understanding what other people have, feel, and need. Empathy goes beyond sensitivity—it drives actions, not just feelings.
In contrast, narcissists are the complete opposite of empaths. Any relationship with a narcissist is toxic, and for some strange reason, narcissists and empaths often attract each other. These toxic relationships can be extremely harmful because narcissists believe empaths owe them everything, even though this is far from true.
Now, onto the list:
1. Narcissists think you owe them attention.
Empaths can sense emotions and feelings, even when others cannot. For example, if someone is sad but hides it behind jokes and a cheerful demeanor, you can immediately sense their sadness. Narcissists, on the other hand, lack this ability. They are self-absorbed and rely on you to read others’ emotions, often to manipulate situations for their benefit. Additionally, narcissists demand your undivided attention, refusing to let you focus on anyone else unless they approve.
2. Narcissists think empaths owe them good interactions with people.
Empaths are naturally polite and kind. They instinctively know how to behave appropriately in social situations, which often makes them more approachable and likable. Narcissists, however, use kindness as a tool for personal gain. They expect empaths to cater to their needs, exploiting their politeness and friendliness for selfish purposes.
3. Narcissists think empaths owe them their insights about others.
Empaths have an innate ability to understand the nature and motives of people they meet. This intuitive judgment is something narcissists rely on to navigate social situations. However, if your judgment turns out wrong, the narcissist will blame you entirely, absolving themselves of any responsibility.
