Narcissists’ egos are triggered when they cannot have what they want; for example, authority. Narcissists love to exercise authority, but they despise it when it falls into the hands of others. They become rebellious when placed under someone else’s authority, which makes them feel incompetent and inefficient. Narcissists only feel settled when they are at the top of every hierarchy. It is not enough for them to simply be the boss; they want to be the boss of the bosses.
Number 4: Reality and Truth
Narcissists are individuals who live inside a made-up world filled with lies and fantasies. They emphasize their specialness and live with a sense of self-aggrandizement. Anyone can bring narcissists out of that world using reality and truth. We all know that reality and truth are imperfect and full of flaws; hence, narcissists despise them because they do not support their ideas of perfection. Reality and truth are mighty weapons against the fantasies that narcissists wish to make real, as these will always reveal themselves, no matter how much anyone tries to cover them up. Narcissists may attempt to conceal reality and truth using deception and other manipulations, but they cannot deny them forever, for reality and truth will always come out.

Confrontation does not necessarily have to be argumentative or violent; it can effectively attack a narcissist’s ego if delivered calmly because their egos are incredibly fragile.
Number 6: Success of Others
Witnessing the success of others triggers the narcissist’s ambition. Their ambition often involves stomping on others with their success. Narcissists love it when the limelight is solely directed at them, so they interpret the success of others as a challenge. For them, it means being outshined or about to be outshined. Narcissists are blinded by their ideas of success and focus solely on the outcome. They lack the courage to take responsibility and go through the process needed to achieve their desired results. Consequently, they become disappointed and view themselves as failures when others realize their goals before they do.
