This Is How You Destroy A Narcissist’s Ego

Updated on:

Narcissists despise indifference. They can withstand and even choose to deal with other people’s hatred, but not disinterest. This is because attention is like air for a narcissist’s ego; it is a necessity, a basic need for them to continue functioning. Cutting off that attention deprives narcissists of the oxygen they require. Not giving them the satisfaction and pleasure they crave consistently will eventually lead to their destruction. Therefore, it is safe to say that indifference is one of the most effective ways to destroy a narcissist’s ego.

Number 8: Comparison
Comparison is a method used to evaluate which of two or more people or things is superior. People use all kinds of judgments to compare, which is why comparison is threatening for narcissists. They hate being put under a microscope, which is how it feels to be subjected to comparison. Narcissists fear that others might see through their inferiority. They do not want to be told upfront that someone is better than them, as this might cause them an incurable wound. Comparison deflates a narcissist’s ego and exacerbates their already low self-esteem. Moreover, it generates feelings of jealousy and envy towards the person they are being compared to.

Number 9: Failing or Losing
Life is a game that every human being must play, and failing or losing is an inevitable part of any game. However, narcissists hate taking the losing end, even if it is necessary for eventual success. They are obsessed with winning and the glory and privileges that come with each victory because it feeds their ego. Therefore, failing or losing leaves a narcissist hungry for validation, as they cannot accept being viewed as a failure or a loser. Their high expectations lead them to believe they should master everything, which is why they crumble when faced with someone who outperforms them.

Number 10: Abandonment
Abandonment or rejection is a significant attack on a narcissist’s ego. Their lack of empathy makes it difficult for narcissists to understand why their victims leave due to their narcissistic behaviors. Narcissists cannot comprehend how their actions have affected others; they think that what they are doing is entirely normal. While others may find resolution and reflect on their faults when abandoned, narcissists focus on questioning what they lack and doubting their importance in the face of rejection. They cannot see the wrongdoing in their behavior because they believe they are not at fault; if there is blame to be assigned, it is never to them. Ultimately, narcissists assume that they should be the ones to abandon others, not the other way around.

Narcissistic people may consider their inflated ego as a strength, but in truth, it is their greatest weakness. There are many strategies to destroy a narcissist’s ego, and anyone can make it possible. Narcissists’ egos are fake exteriors that can be dismantled using the ten methods mentioned above.
